Unique Art Creations's Bio

                                     About  Me
I began learning needle arts as a child.  In 1942,  I sewed my own wedding dress.   We raised two children and I'm now a great grandmother of identical twin girls.
Over the years, I've had lessons in many arts and crafts including decorative painting in oils, watercolors, acrylics,  painting on porcelain and glass,  decorating with ceramic glazes,  and farbic painting.   Some of my favorite design styles are taken from ethnic arts.   Examples are ancient Egyptian, Oriental, American Indian designs,  Viking and Celtic drawings, Norwegian rosemaling, and early Christian symbols.
My needle arts include crochet, quilting,  needlepoint,  hand or machine embroidery, punch needle, latch hooking with rug yarn,  and macrame.
I've had lessons in flower arranging, using both fresh and dried materials.   I've done lapidary work making semi-precious jewelry from slabs of rocks.   Two years ago I disccovered gourd crafting.  Decorating these can include many techniques from other arts.  I like mixing medias.   I have recently returned to polymer clay art.   It has improved a lot since I sculpted with it in the  1970s.  Back then, it was made only in white so I painted it.
I moved to Greenville, SC in 2003 from Oregon.  I attribute my good health  to my life style of organic gardening, eating natural foods, and my studies of healing with herbs. I take no prescription drugs and have no pain unless I work too hard in my yard.
