Guy Stevens's Bio

"The paintings of Guy Stevens offer us a travelogue of splendid fantasies and dreamlike narratives, and while his subject matter varies from Munich to Milano, Hawaii to Jamaica, his essential style is consistent. Employing flamboyant colors, his flat lyrical shapes suggest qualities of both primitive and impressionistic art. He often adopts an elevated viewpoint giving his work a tilt in perspective that channels an extraordinary energy and movement with an explosion of color, which culminates in a celebration of life."
            Kris Kline, Director Gallery Now

During his thirty-five years of professional painting Guy Stevens has completed numerous painting tours, in Europe, the Hawaiian Islands, through the interior of Mexico and in the Greek Islands. He undertook a four months painting expedition up the east coast from the Carolinas into Maine, then Northern Québec and Montréal. He spent long periods painting on the Island of Bermuda, in New York City, and in San Francisco and the Bay area. This year he painted on the Island of Jamaica.

As a result of his worldwide tours and exhibits he has sold paintings in over 30 countries to public and private collections. During some years he has held as many as 17 one-man-shows.

Stevens began his professional career in 1970 after graduating from Furman University with a major in Art and the Maxwell Award for outstanding achievement.
